Abbots Bromley Cricket Club

ABCC was founded in 1881 and, with the exception of the years of the Great War, has continuously played the game in the village to this day. We are delighted to join the Abbots Bromley Sports Association and be able to play cricket on a newly established purpose-built cricket pitch.

ABCC’s Aim

Our club encourages cricket for all ages and capabilities. We offer professional coaching to all our players, particularly juniors, and we continue to develop its coaching credentials from within.

Our main aim is for everyone involved, whether our team or the oppositions team, whether playing, spectating or participating in whatever way, to enjoy themselves.

The Club thrives in the community and raises funds to sustain itself as well staging charity events to benefit other village organisations:

  • We have hosted an annual brass band carol concert for over twenty years and have donated around £14,000 to local causes ranging from the village scouts to St Giles Hospice

  • Annual summer functions, with live music have been proudly put on with free admission

  • Other sports events such as 10k runs, fun runs, dog walks and competitive cycle road races.

Cricket Teams

Abbots Bromley CC currently has its first eleven in the Derbyshire League, Division 4. The team plays on Saturdays from mid-April through to September, with indoor net training through the winter.

The Club also has a friendly side playing on Sundays.

We welcome new players of all ages and abilities and aspire to re-creating a second eleven squad if we can increase our club membership.

Following considerable successes both on and off the field, a Development Plan was created to to ensure our sustainability as a club, to realise our social and community responsibilities and to provide the opportunity for senior and juniors to play sport.

The new ground will provide superb facilities and cement the foundations for cricket in Abbots Bromley for at least another one hundred years.
